To provide a technique which enables simple production of a high molecular compound by a direct arylation reaction.SOLUTION: In a method for producing a high molecular compound by a direct arylation reaction (M1), a composition containing an organic solvent, a raw material monomer, a catalyst, and an additive capable of coordinating with the catalyst is refluxed in a state where the inside of a reaction system communicates with the outside (S12, S13) to subject the raw material monomer to a direct arylation reaction, thereby producing a high molecular compound.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】直接アリール化反応による高分子化合物の製造において、簡便な製造を可能とする技術を提供する。【解決手段】直接アリール化反応による高分子化合物の製造方法（Ｍ１）において、有機溶媒、原料モノマー、触媒、およびそれに配位可能な添加物を含有する組成物を、反応系内が外部と連通した状態で還流させて（Ｓ１２，Ｓ１３）原料モノマーを直接アリール化反応させることによって、高分子化合物を製造する。【選択図】図１
