Summary: | To provide a satisfactory video encoding and decoding method, a video encoder, and a video decoder.SOLUTION: Low-complexity planar mode encoding is provided in which a first predictive value is calculated using linear interpolation between a value of each of horizontal boundary pixels and one value among vertical boundary pixels, and a second predictive value is calculated using linear interpolation between a value of each of vertical boundary pixels and one value among horizontal boundary pixels. At such a time, the first predictive value and the second predictive value are averaged for deriving each predictive pixel value within a predictive block.
