To accurately detect a rotation angle of a rotating member from a detection result of rotation position detection means.SOLUTION: There is provided a sheet holding device, including: a regulating member that can move in a direction to approach and separate from an end of a sheet; a rotating member 84a that rotates according to a movement of the regulating member; a detected member 83a attached to the rotating member and integrally rotating; and rotational position detecting means for detecting a rotational position of the detected member, and configured such that the detected member rotates integrally with the rotating member, due to a contact of a contact portion 84b of the rotating member and a contacted portion 83c of the detected member from a rotating direction of the rotating member.
