Summary:To provide a method for treating chloric acid-containing water capable of enhancing an amount of chloric acid adsorbed on activated carbon to reduce frequency of exchanging the activated carbon in treating the chloric acid-containing water with the activated carbon to adsorb and remove the chloric acid contained in the water.SOLUTION: In the method for treating chloric acid-containing water with activated carbon, the chloric acid-containing water is brought into contact with activated carbon under an acidic condition; the chloric acid is an oxidant represented by a molecular formula of HClOand reacts as a strong oxidant particularly at a lowered pH; accordingly, if the chloric acid-containing water is brought into contact with the activated carbon under an acidic condition of low pH, the chloric acid contained in the chloric acid-containing water reacts as a strong oxidant with the activated carbon to thereby result in being efficiently adsorbed on the activated carbon and increased in an amount adsorbed on the activated carbon.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】塩素酸含有水を活性炭で処理して水中の塩素酸を吸着除去するに当たり、活性炭の塩素酸吸着量を高めて活性炭の交換頻度を低減する。【解決手段】塩素酸含有水を酸性条件下で活性炭と接触させる。塩素酸は分子式HClO3で表される酸化剤であり、特にpHを低くすると強い酸化剤として反応する。このため、低pHの酸性条件下で活性炭に塩素酸含有水を接触させると、塩素酸含有水中の塩素酸が強い酸化剤として活性炭と反応することで、活性炭に効率的に吸着するようになり、活性炭吸着量が増大する。【選択図】図1
