Summary:To provide a container folding method and a container folding device allowing automated folding of a container having a lock mechanism.SOLUTION: A container folding device includes: a first rotation operation part rotating a plate spring member between an engagement position and a retreat position; a second rotation operation part rotating a metal fitting between a lock position and a lock release position; and a fall-down operation part falling down four side plates for folding. A container folding method comprises: a first rotation operation step (S13) in which the first rotation operation part removes an engaging pin at an engaging position for unrotatably engaging the metal fitting at a lock position resisting against energization force of the plate spring member and rotates the plate spring member from the engaging position to the retreat position; a second rotation operation step (S14) in which the second rotation operation part rotates the metal fitting from the lock position to the lock release position; and fall-down steps (S17, S18) in which the fall-down operation part falls down the four side plates inward and folds into a superposed state on a bottom part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9 【課題】ロック機構付きのコンテナを自動で折り畳むことができるコンテナ折り畳み方法及びコンテナ折り畳み装置を提供する。【解決手段】コンテナ折り畳み装置は、板ばね部材を係止位置と退避位置との間で回動させる第１回動操作部と、金具をロック位置とロック解除位置との間で回動させる第２回動操作部と、４つの側板を折り畳むために倒す倒し操作部とを備える。コンテナ折り畳み方法は、第１回動操作部が、ロック位置にある金具を回動不能に係止する係止位置にある係止ピンを板ばね部材の付勢力に抗して外し、板ばね部材を係止位置から退避位置へ回動させる第１回動操作ステップ（Ｓ１３）と、第２回動操作部が、金具をロック位置からロック解除位置まで回動させる第２回動操作ステップ（Ｓ１４）と、倒し操作部が、４つの側板を内側へ倒して底部上に重ねた状態に折り畳む倒しステップ（Ｓ１７，Ｓ１８）と、を備える。【選択図】図９
