Summary: | To provide a liquid crystal alignment film having high stability to light and achieving a higher contrast when applied to a liquid crystal display element, and a liquid crystal aligning agent that allows formation of the above liquid crystal alignment film.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal aligning agent for photo-alignment is provided, which contains a polymer component that has a structural unit including a photoreactive structure. The polymer component comprises a polymer or its derivative obtained by polymerizing a monomer composition containing at least a first monomer and a second monomer. The first monomer includes a photoreactive structure in a moiety forming the structural unit of the polymer, in which the moiety forming the structural unit of the polymer induces a chemical reaction by heating. The second monomer includes a photoreactive structure in a moiety forming the structural unit of the polymer, in which the moiety forming the structural unit of the polymer does not induce a chemical reaction by heating.SELECTED DRAWING: None
