To provide a printer that can improve maintenance workability.SOLUTION: The printer comprises: a thermal head for performing printing on a printing medium; a platen roller, provided at a position opposing to the thermal head, which carries the printing medium; an energizing part that energizes the thermal head toward the platen roller; a printing unit having the thermal head and the energizing part; a cover for storing the printing unit; and an engagement part that holds the printing unit in the cover; and a holding mechanism that performs adjustment so that the engagement part engages with the printing unit at a position at which the thermal head moves against energizing force of the energizing part and margins of engagement of the engagement part with the printing unit are reduced in tandem with forward and backward movement of the thermal head with respect to the platen roller.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】メンテナンス作業性を向上できるプリンタを提供すること。【解決手段】プリンタは、印字媒体に印字を行うサーマルヘッドと、サーマルヘッドと対向する位置に設けられ印字媒体を搬送するプラテンローラと、サーマルヘッドをプラテンローラに向けて付勢する付勢部と、サーマルヘッドおよび付勢部を有する印字ユニットと、印字ユニットを収容するカバーと、印字ユニットをカバー内に収容する位置に保持する係合部と、サーマルヘッドが付勢部の付勢力に抗して移動した位置にて係合部が印字ユニットに係合し、かつ前記サーマルヘッドが前記プラテンローラに対して進退する動作に連動して前記係合部の前記印字ユニットに対する係合代が小さくなるように調整する保持機構と、を備える。【選択図】図２
