Summary:To provide an image forming apparatus and a program that can prevent an increase in printing cost and a reduction in image quality.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 3 can form an image on a continuous feed medium. The image forming apparatus 3 includes a fixing unit 35 that heats the continuous feed medium while in contact therewith to fix an image formed on the continuous feed medium, and a control unit 301 that controls the temperature increase performed by the fixing unit 35. When the contact of the fixing unit 35 with the continuous feed medium is released, and while the continuous feed medium is stopped, the increase of the temperature of the fixing unit 35 can be controlled.
