Summary:To provide a technology that reduces driving torque of a rotary valve of a cryogenic refrigeration machine at lower costs.SOLUTION: A rotary valve 54 of a cryogenic refrigeration machine includes: a valve stator 68; a valve rotor 70; a rotation member 74 which rotates the valve rotor 70 around an axis relative to the valve stator 68; and a rotor holder 72 which is connected to the valve rotor 70 so as to rotate around an axis with the valve rotor 70 and forms a low pressure part 94, in which pressure is lower than an ambient pressure, between itself and the valve rotor 70 so as to reduce axial force for pressing the valve rotor 70 to the valve stator 68. The rotation member 74 is coupled to the rotor holder 72 so as to rotate the valve rotor 70 around the axis through the rotor holder 72.
