Summary:To provide a control device for a compression ignition type engine capable of actualizing appropriate partial compression ignition combustion.SOLUTION: In the compression ignition type engine for enabling SPCCI combustion, partial combustion ignition combustion is performed under an A/F lean environment during operation in a second operation region B2, and a valve opening timing for an intake valve is set to be on the advance side beyond an exhaust top dead center. An intake variable mechanism 13a is controlled so that the partial compression ignition combustion is performed under the A/F lean environment during operation in a first operation region B1 on the low load side beyond the second operation region B2, a valve closing timing for the intake valve 11 is further delayed in a range on the delay side beyond an intake bottom dead center when an engine load is low under the conditions that an engine speed is the same than when it is high, and an absolute value for the rate of change of the valve closing timing for the intake valve 11 with the engine load is greater than an absolute value for the rate of change in the second operation region B2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11 【課題】適切な部分圧縮着火燃焼を実現することが可能な圧縮着火式エンジンの制御装置を提供する。【解決手段】SPCCI燃焼が可能な圧縮着火式エンジンにおいて、第2運転領域B2での運転時に、A/Fリーン環境下で部分圧縮着火燃焼を実施し且つ吸気弁の開弁時期を排気上死点よりも進角側の時期にする。また、第2運転領域B2よりも低負荷側の第1運転領域B1での運転時に、A/Fリーン環境下で部分圧縮着火燃焼を実施するとともに、エンジン回転数が同じ条件下で、エンジン負荷が低いときは高いときに比べて、吸気弁11の閉弁時期が吸気下死点よりも遅角側の範囲で遅角され、且つ、吸気弁11の閉弁時期のエンジン負荷に対する変化率の絶対値が第2運転領域B2における当該変化率の絶対値よりも大きくなるように、吸気可変機構13aを制御する。【選択図】図11
