Summary:To provide a method and an apparatus for a connection interface between a reservoir or a syringe, an infusion set tubing, and an infusion pump.SOLUTION: A reservoir 1, a base 2 and a cap 4 are connected to form an integrated unit that is capable of being inserted and secured into an infusion pump housing 33. The cap and an infusion pump device 30 are each provided with at least one sensor 34 or at least one detectable feature 42, arranged to interact with at least one corresponding detectable feature or a sensor on the other of the cap and infusion pump device, so as to detect one or more of the presence, the position and other characteristics of the cap when the cap is aligned or coupled with the infusion pump housing.
