Summary: | To provide a transformant that makes it possible to produce efficiently ethanol with carbon dioxide used as a single carbon source.SOLUTION: The transformant is obtained by introducing, to Hydrogenophilaceae bacteria, an alcohol dehydrogenase gene, and DNA selected from the followings: DNA comprising a specific base sequence; DNA comprising a base sequence having at least 90% identity with the DNA and encoding a polypeptide that has a pyruvate decarboxylase (PDC) activity; DNA hybridizing with a base sequence complimentary to the specific base sequence under a stringent condition, and encoding a polypeptide that has a PDC activity; DNA encoding a polypeptide that has a specific amino acid sequence; DNA having at least 90% identity with the specific amino acid sequence and encoding a polypeptide that has a PDC activity; or DNA comprising a specific amino acid sequence in which one or plural amino acids are deleted, substituted or added and encoding a polypeptide that has a PDC activity.SELECTED DRAWING: None
