Summary:To provide an image forming apparatus in which a recovery container recovering a waste toner is removably attached to an apparatus body, the image forming apparatus capable of preventing a reduction in the accuracy of detecting the waste toner.SOLUTION: In a recovery container 12, a cover 60 having a window 63 is arranged on a left side wall 123 with an elastic member 70. On an apparatus body, an optical sensor, and positioning members for positioning the cover 60 with respect to the apparatus body are fixedly arranged. When the recovery container 12 is attached to the apparatus body, the positioning members on the apparatus body receive the cover 60 of the recovery container 12 that is urged by a restoring force of the compressively deformed elastic member 70, and thereby the cover 60 is positioned with respect to the apparatus body.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】廃トナーを回収する回収容器を装置本体に着脱可能な構成において、廃トナーの検出精度の低下を防止できる画像形成装置を提供すること。【解決手段】回収容器１２には、窓６３を有するカバー６０が弾性部材７０を介して左側壁１２３に配置されている。装置本体には、光学センサーと、カバー６０を装置本体に対して位置決めするための位置決め部材とが固定配置されている。回収容器１２が装置本体に装着されると、装置本体の位置決め部材が、圧縮変形している弾性部材７０の復元力により付勢される回収容器１２のカバー６０を受け止めることにより、カバー６０が装置本体に対して位置決めされる。【選択図】図３
