Summary:To improve usability of a system using an electronic pen.SOLUTION: An electronic pen 10 has a communication unit 20 for communicating with a device to be communicated therewith, a state detecting unit 30 for detecting a state of the electronic pen 10 determined by its relationship with the device to be communicated therewith, and a controlling unit 40 for changing an operation of the communication unit 20 in response to the state detected by the state detecting unit 30. When the state of the electronic pen 10 is asynchronous state and a command of changing an operation mode is issued to a projector 100, the controlling unit 40 emits a light emitting unit 24 in a light emitting pattern for commanding cancellation of a standby mode.
