Summary:To facilitate compactification and piping work of piping to an EGR cooler, in an internal combustion engine having an EGR device.SOLUTION: An EGR cooler 40 is arranged in a substantially vertically long attitude on the outside of one corner part at a rear end of a cylinder head 2, a cooling water inlet port 48a is arranged at a lower part so as to be opened backward, and a cooling water outlet port 48b is arranged at an upper part. An EGR feed port 18 is formed in a region closer to one corner part out of a cooling water distribution part 14 of the cylinder head 2 so as to be opened backward, and the EGR feed port 18 and the cooling water inlet port 48a are connected to each other by an EGR feed pipe 49a. Since the EGR feed port 18 and the cooling water inlet port 48a are opened in the same direction, the EGR feed pipe 49a is easy in handling even when its length is shortened, and connection work can be performed without taking a time and labor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】EGR装置を備えた内燃機関において、EGRクーラへの配管のコンパクト化・配管作業の容易化を図る。【解決手段】EGRクーラ40は、シリンダヘッド2の後端の1つのコーナー部の外側に、略縦長の姿勢で配置されており、下部には、冷却水入口ポート48aが後ろ向きに開口するように設けられ、上部には、冷却水出口ポート48bが設けられている。シリンダヘッド2の冷却水分配部14のうち1つのコーナー部に寄った部位に、EGR送りポート18が後ろ向きに開口するように形成されており、EGR送りポート18と冷却水入口ポート48aとがEGR送りパイプ49aで接続されている。EGR送りポート18と冷却水入口ポート48aとは同じ方向に開口しているため、EGR送りパイプ49aは、長さを短くしても取り回しが容易であり、接続作業を手間無しで行える。【選択図】図3
