To provide a vehicle washing device which causes a portal vehicle washing device body reciprocating so as to stride over a stopped vehicle to read a vehicle shape, actuate a plurality of processors along the read vehicle shape, for washing and drying a vehicle body surface, the vehicle washing device capable of safely washing a vehicle even if there is a difference between positions of the read vehicle shape and actual vehicle, due to movement of the vehicle in a halfway of washing.SOLUTION: The vehicle washing device can wash a vehicle safely, to a vehicle after displacement, by reading again a vehicle shape, when detecting displacement of a vehicle in a halfway of washing, and detecting movement of the vehicle in a hand wash step.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】 停車した自動車を跨ぐように往復走行する門型の洗車装置本体に、車体形状を読み取り、その読み取った車形に沿って複数の処理装置を作用させ車体面を洗浄・乾燥するようした洗車装置において、洗車途中で自動車が動いてしまい、読み取った車形と実際の自動車との位置に差異が生じても、安全に洗車を行える装置を提供する。【解決手段】 洗車中に自動車の変位を検出したり、手洗い工程中の自動車の移動を検知したりすると、車体形状を再度読み取って変位後の自動車に対しても安全に洗車できるようにした。【選択図】 図１
