Summary:To realize a more appropriate conveying control by detecting wrinkle media more reliably.SOLUTION: A medium feeding device includes: a placement unit for placing a medium; feeding means for feeding the medium placed on the placement unit; wrinkle detecting means provided upstream of the feeding means in a feeding direction and outputting a detection value corresponding to a wrinkle of the medium; and control means for performing predetermined control based on the detection value of the wrinkle detecting means. The wrinkle detecting means is constituted of an optical sensor including a light emitting unit that emits light to a surface of the medium placed on the placement unit, and a light receiving unit that receives light reflected from the surface of the medium.
