To provide a recording apparatus allowing for shortening of time elapsing until a user performs jam processing since abnormal conveyance such as jamming occurs.SOLUTION: The recording apparatus is provided that includes: a plurality of conveying means conveying a recording medium to a discharge part; recording means movable between a first position where recording operation is performed on the recording medium and a second position retracting from the first position; detection means detecting abnormal conveyance of the recording medium; and conveyance control means controlling the conveying means in such a way that, when the abnormal conveyance is detected during the recording operation, conveying of the recording medium in which the abnormal conveyance is detected and the recording media positioned at an upstream side thereof is stopped and discharging operation of conveying the recording media positioned at a downstream side of the recording medium of the abnormal conveyance to the discharge part is continued.
