Summary:To provide a twin-screw extruder in which a screw rotation speed can be changed according to a raw material processing step and a processed raw material is hardly deteriorated.SOLUTION: A twin-screw extruder according to the present invention comprises: a cylindrical upstream screw 31 having a shaft hole 315 extending in a longitudinal direction and having a screw flight on an outer peripheral surface; and a downstream screw 35 including a large diameter part 353 having a screw flight on an outer peripheral surface and small diameter shaft parts 351, 352 having a smaller diameter than the large diameter part 353. The small diameter shaft parts 351, 352 of the downstream screw 35 are inserted into the shaft hole 315 of the upstream screw 31. The upstream screw 31 and the downstream screw 35 are screws that can rotate independently of each other and are arranged parallel to each other.
