To provide a collection method and an extraction method which can easily collect microorganisms or genes from a surface to be tested.SOLUTION: The method for collecting and extracting microorganism and genes includes: a first step for absorbing a liquid medium into an absorber of a collecting device using a collection device provided with a rod member that can separate a tip provided with an absorber at one end and a carrying portion; a second step for contacting an absorber on the surface to be inspected and collecting microorganism or genes on the surface to be tested; a third step for using a first container, which is sealable, inserting the collecting device into an opening of the first container from the absorbent side, separating the tip and the supporting part of the rod member after insertion and removing the supporting part from the first container, and sealing the tip so that the insertion direction of the first container is maintained; and a fourth step for using a second container, which is sealable, inserting the tip of the collector from the first container into the second container such that the tip of the collector is inserted into the opening of the second container from the opposite side of the absorber, and sealing the second container in which the tip is received so that the insertion direction is maintained.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 【課題】被検査面から微生物又は遺伝子を簡便に捕集できる捕集方法及び抽出方法を提供する。【解決手段】吸収体を一端に備えた先端部と担持部とを分離可能な棒状部材を備えた捕集器材を用い、捕集器材の吸収体に液状媒体を吸収させる第１の工程と、被検査面に吸収体を接触させて被検査面上の微生物又は遺伝子を捕集する第２の工程と、密封可能な第１の容器を用い、捕集器材を吸収体側から第１の容器の開口部に挿入し、挿入後棒状部材の先端部と担持部とを分離して担持部を第１の容器から取り出し、挿入方向が維持されるように先端部が収納された第１の容器を密封する第３の工程と、密封可能な第２の容器を用い、捕集器材の先端部を、吸収体とは逆側から第２の容器の開口部に挿入されるように第１の容器から第２の容器に挿入し、挿入方向が維持されるように先端部が収納された第２の容器を密封する第４の工程と、を含む微生物及び遺伝子の捕集方法及び抽出方法。【選択図】図４
