To facilitate saving power and updating software without stopping a job operation for a computer system.SOLUTION: A system management apparatus manages a computer system having a plurality of computing nodes. The system management apparatus includes a software update management unit and a power saving management unit. When a software update request for the computing node is requested, the software update management unit stores a software update request. When a power saving operation request is requested, the power saving management unit notifies the software update management unit of the computing node, which is in an idle state and satisfies a power saving condition among the plurality of computing nodes. The software update management unit updates the software for the notified computing node based on the software update request, and the power saving management unit stops the computing node which has completed the software update.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】計算機システムのジョブ運用を停止させることなく、省電力化とソフトウェア更新を実施するのが困難であること。【解決手段】複数の計算ノードを有する計算機システムを管理するシステム管理装置は、ソフトウェア更新管理部と省電力管理部とを有する。ソフトウェア更新管理部は、計算ノードのソフトウェア更新要求があると、ソフトウェア更新要求を記憶する。省電力管理部は、省電力運用要求があると、複数の計算ノードのうち省電力化の条件を満たすアイドル状態の計算ノードをソフトウェア更新管理部に通知する。ソフトウェア更新管理部は、ソフトウェア更新要求に基づいて、通知された計算ノードのソフトウェアを更新し、省電力管理部は、ソフトウェア更新後の計算ノードを停止させる。【選択図】図１
