To provide a maintenance recovery device of a liquid discharge head which prevents a meniscus of ink formed in a nozzle hole from being destroyed by an adhesive member, prevents splash of liquid at the peeing with the adhesive member, liquid return, liquid re-attachment to a water repellent film and deterioration of the water repellent film of a nozzle surface, and prevents exudation of the liquid to the periphery of a nozzle, non-discharge and discharge bending.SOLUTION: A maintenance recovery device 200 includes: adhesive means 90 which has an adhesive member 91 for removing a liquid residue 105 on a head 34 having a nozzle surface 37 including a nozzle 38; and adhesion assisting means 99 which assists the adhesion to the nozzle surface of the adhesive means. The adhesive means includes an adhesion member 94 which adheres the adhesive member 91 such that the adhesive member 91 does not contact the nozzle hole of the head. The adhesion assisting means 99 adheres the adhesive member 91 to a region other than the nozzle hole of the head including the liquid residue 105 on the nozzle surface and the adhesion member 94 horizontally peels the adhesive member 91 from the nozzle surface 37.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 【課題】ノズル穴内に形成されるインクのメニスカスが粘着部材により破壊されず、粘着部材による剥離時の液体の跳ね飛ばし、液体戻り、撥水膜への液体再付着及びノズル面の撥水膜の劣化が防止され、ノズル周囲への液体の染み出し、不吐出、吐出曲がりが防止される、液体吐出ヘッドの維持回復装置を提供する。【解決手段】維持回復装置２００は、ノズル３８を有するノズル面３７を備えるヘッド３４上の液体残留物１０５を除去するための粘着部材９１を有する粘着手段９０と、粘着手段のノズル面への接着を補助する接着補助手段９９とを有し、粘着手段は、粘着部材９１がヘッドのノズル穴に接触しないように粘着部材９１を接着させる接着部材９４を有し、接着補助手段９９は、粘着部材９１を、ノズル面上の液体残留物１０５を含むヘッドのノズル穴以外の領域に対して接着させ、接着部材９４粘着部材９１をノズル面３７に対して水平に剥離させる。【選択図】図６
