Summary: | To provide a technique capable of estimating a PDL cased by transmission of an optical signal using a multiple optical transmission system at high precisely with a simple structure.SOLUTION: A polarization multiplex optical signal transmission system comprises: a dither signal superposition part having the same frequency and amplitude, and making first and second dither signals each of which a phase is adjusted so that an intensity of the other optical signal becomes the minimum value when the intensity of one optical signal of a first optical signal and a second optical signal each of which a polarization orthogonally multiplexed to be superposed to first and second optical signals becomes the largest value; a dither signal detection part detecting a total sum of the first dither signal superposed to the first optical signal and the second dither signal superposed to the second optical signal; and a PDL estimation part estimating a PDL caused by one part or a whole of a system on the basis of the total sum of the dither signals detected.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
