Summary:To provide a premixing compression ignition type engine capable of reducing combustion noise while securing high heat efficiency.SOLUTION: In a premixing compression ignition type engine in which a mixture air of fuel and air including gasoline can be self-ignited in a combustion chamber 6, a cavity 19 recessed at a central region in a radial direction of a piston 5, is formed on a crown face 5a of the piston 5, and water injection means 15 for supplying water into the combustion chamber 6, and fuel supply means 14 for supplying the fuel into the combustion chamber 6 are disposed. The fuel supply means 14 is allowed to supply the fuel into the combustion chamber 6 so that the air-fuel mixture is formed in the cavity 19 and the self-ignition of the air-fuel mixture is started in the cavity 19, and the water injection means 15 is allowed to inject water to a region R3 positioned between a central portion R1 and an outer peripheral portion R2 in a radial direction of the cavity 19 in the combustion chamber 6 in a second period of a compression stroke or a first period of an expansion stroke before high-temperature oxidation reaction of the air-fuel mixture in the cavity 19.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9 【課題】高い熱効率を確保しつつ燃焼騒音を低減可能な予混合圧縮着火式エンジンを提供する。【解決手段】燃焼室6内でガソリンを含む燃料と空気の混合気を自着火させることが可能な予混合圧縮着火式エンジンであって、ピストン5の冠面5aに、ピストン5の径方向の中央領域に凹設されたキャビティ19を設けるとともに、燃焼室6内に水を供給する水噴射手段15と、燃焼室6内に燃料を供給する燃料供給手段14とを設ける。燃料供給手段14に、キャビティ19内に混合気が形成されて当該キャビティ19内で混合気の自着火が開始するように、燃焼室6内に燃料を供給させ、且つ、水噴射手段15に、圧縮行程後期または膨張行程前期且つキャビティ19内で混合気が高温酸化反応するよりも前に、燃焼室6内のうちキャビティ19の径方向の中央部R1と外周部R2との間に位置する領域R3に水を噴射させる。【選択図】図9
