Summary:To provide a method for a manufacturing a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, by which a performance of a battery using a negative electrode including silicon coated with amorphous carbon or silicon oxide coated with amorphous carbon in addition to graphite can be estimated.SOLUTION: A method for a manufacturing a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises the steps of: preparing negative electrodes each including graphite, and silicon coated with amorphous carbon or silicon oxide coated with amorphous carbon; performing X-ray diffraction measurement on the negative electrodes to obtain X-ray diffraction patterns; selecting the negative electrode based on the X-ray diffraction patterns; and using the selected negative electrode to manufacture the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. In the step of selecting the negative electrode, an X-ray diffraction pattern with a half value width of 0.05 and an X-ray diffraction pattern with a half value width of 0.5 are separated from the X-ray diffraction patterns; and a negative electrode of which the ratio b/a of a peak value "b" in the X-ray diffraction pattern with a half value width of 0.5 to a peak value "a" in the X-ray diffraction pattern with a half value width of 0.05 is 0.05 or more is selected.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】黒鉛に加えてアモルファス炭素により被覆された珪素またはアモルファス炭素により被覆された酸化珪素を含む負極を用いた電池の性能を予測し得る、非水電解質二次電池の製造方法を提供すること。【解決手段】非水電解質二次電池の製造方法は、黒鉛と、アモルファス炭素により被覆された珪素またはアモルファス炭素により被覆された酸化珪素とを含有する負極を準備する工程と、負極をX線回折測定し、X線回折パターンを得る工程と、X線回折パターンに基づき、負極を選別する工程と、選別された負極を用い、非水電解質二次電池を製造する工程とを含む。負極を選別する工程において、X線回折パターンを、半値幅0.05のX線回折パターンと半値幅0.5のX線回折パターンとに分離し、半値幅0.05のX線回折パターンにおけるピーク値aと、半値幅0.5のX線回折パターンにおけるピーク値bとの比b/aが0.05以上の負極が選別される。【選択図】図1
