Summary:To provide a method of manufacturing multilayer mirror assemblies by means of a metalization technique applicable to optically transparent polymer substrates, which reliably forms a continuous coating that covers a polymer layer with a metal layer to efficiently protect the metal layer against corrosion.SOLUTION: A method of manufacture a multilayer mirror assembly comprises steps of: (i) providing an optically transparent layer L1 made of a composition C1 comprising, preferably consisting of, at least one fluoropolymer F, the layer L1 having an inner surface and an outer surface; (ii) treating the inner surface of the layer L1 with a radio-frequency glow discharge process in the presence of an etching gas; and (iii) forming a metal layer L2 on the inner surface of the layer L1 treated in the step (ii) by means of electroless deposition, the layer L2 being made of a composition C2 containing at least one metal compound M.SELECTED DRAWING: None 【課題】金属層を腐食から効果的に保護するための、金属層と一体になったポリマー層の連続的な被膜が確実に得られる、光透過性ポリマー基材の金属被覆方法を用いた多層ミラーアセンブリの製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】(i)少なくとも1種のフルオロポリマーFを含む組成物C1から作られる、好ましくは少なくとも1種のフルオロポリマーFからなる組成物C1から作られる、内表面及び外表面を有する光透過性層L1を準備する工程と、(ii)層L1の内表面を、エッチングガスの存在下、高周波グロー放電法によって処理する工程と、(iii)工程(ii)で準備した層L1の処理した内表面に、金属層L2を無電解めっきする工程であって、層L2は少なくとも1種の金属化合物Mを含む組成物C2から作られる工程と、を含む。【選択図】なし
