To provide a sensing element to be used for detecting explosives-related materials.SOLUTION: Provided is a method of detecting an analyte comprising steps of: measuring luminescent properties of a sensing element comprising a luminescent triaryl amine compound provided as a coating on a substrate; detecting difference between the measured luminescent properties and luminescent properties of the compound prior to the measurement; and determining whether an analyte is present or not based on the detected difference in luminescent properties.
