Summary:To inhibit the fusion of a cell cluster having a desired size.SOLUTION: A culture tank 20 comprises: an upper layer portion 24 for growing cell mass; a lower layer portion 22 provided lower than the upper layer portion 24 and receiving a culture medium M and flowing the culture medium M toward the upper layer portion 24; and a middle layer portion 23 provided between the upper layer portion 24 and the lower layer portion 22 and flowing the culture medium M received from the lower layer portion 22 upward toward the upper layer portion 24. The rising velocity component of the flow of the culture medium M in the lower layer portion 22 is decelerated from a first velocity (V1) to a second velocity (V2) slower than the first velocity (V1). The rising velocity component of the flow of the culture medium M in the middle layer portion 23 maintains the second velocity (V2).
