To solve a problem in which video data cannot be relayed from a transmitting device having an HDMI connector to a receiving device having a USB Type-C connector.SOLUTION: A receiving device having an HDMI receiving function unit and a relay device such as a conversion cable for relaying video data from a transmitting device are provided with a function of identifying each other's devices, and the above problem can be solved by performing valid/invalid switching of a protection element and a termination element and signal connection switching. In addition, it is possible to realize reverse connection by reversing the video data transmission direction of the relay device.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】ＨＤＭＩコネクタを持つ送信装置からＵＳＢ Ｔｙｐｅ−Ｃコネクタを持つ受信装置へ映像データを中継できない課題があった。【解決手段】ＨＤＭＩ受信機能部を持つ受信装置と、送信装置からの映像データを中継する変換ケーブルなどの中継装置に、互いの装置を判別する機能を持たせ、該機能部の判定結果に基づいて終端素子や保護素子の有効／無効切換や、信号接続切換を行うことで上記課題を解決できる。また、該中継装置の映像データ伝送方向を逆転させる逆挿し接続も実現できる。【選択図】図１
