Summary: | To provide improved methods for producing recombinant Clostridium botulinum (C. botulinum) neurotoxins (BoNT/E), in particular, active di-chain BoNT recombinant BoNT/E.SOLUTION: Disclosed herein is a nucleic acid sequence comprising a sequence of contiguous nucleotides, where the sequence of contiguous nucleotides has at least 90% sequence identity to a nucleic acid sequence optimized for expression and encodes a single-chain BoNT/E1 protein.
