Summary:To provide a composition in the form of an O/W emulsion capable of producing an enhanced hydration effect.SOLUTION: There is provided a composition in the form of an O/W emulsion having an oil phase dispersed in an aqueous phase which comprises (a) at least one oil, (b) at least one polyol, (c) at least one surfactant selected from a nonionic surfactant and an anionic surfactant and (d) water, wherein the oil droplets of the oil phase in the composition have a particle diameter of less than 200 nm, preferably less than 150 nm and more preferably less than 100 nm.
