To provide an image reading device which improves maintenance properties by reducing a risk of invasion of a foreign matter into the device when replacing a contact glass.SOLUTION: An image reading device comprises: a casing 20 which forms a document transportation passage Pw for putting a document 31 to pass through; a surface reading part 16 which reads the document through an ADF contact glass 11 within a predetermined section of the document transportation passage Pw ; and front and rear document guides 13 and 15 supported by the casing 20 detachably in the vicinity of the predetermined section.
