To reduce positional deviation of an image formed on a sheet.SOLUTION: Control means of an image forming apparatus can perform a first mode (S112) and a second mode (S114, S115) as a mode to convey a sheet. In the first mode, delivery of the sheet is performed between first conveying means and second conveying means which are both in a driving state. In the second mode, after a forward end of the sheet is brought into contact with the second conveying means, driving of the second conveying means is started. The control means can change a position of an image causing an image carrier to form relative to an image forming unit, and when the first mode is performed, the image formed at a first position of the image carrier is transferred to the sheet (S113, S120). On the other hand, when the second mode is performed, the image formed at a second position being different from the first position of the image carrier is transferred to the sheet in a width direction of the sheet being orthogonal to a sheet conveying direction (S116, S120).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 【課題】シートに形成される画像の位置ずれを低減する。【解決手段】画像形成装置の制御手段は、シートを搬送するモードとして第１モード（Ｓ１１２）及び第２モード（Ｓ１１４，Ｓ１１５）を実行可能である。第１モードでは、共に駆動状態にある第１搬送手段及び第２搬送手段の間でシートの受け渡しが行われる。第２モードでは、シートの前端を停止状態の第２搬送手段に当接させた後、第２搬送手段の駆動が開始される。制御手段は、画像形成部に対して、像担持体に形成させる画像の位置を変更可能であり、第１モードを実行する場合、像担持体の第１位置に形成させた画像をシートに転写させる（Ｓ１１３，Ｓ１２０）。一方、第２モードを実行する場合、シート搬送方向に直交するシートの幅方向において、像担持体の第１位置と異なる第２位置に形成させた画像をシートに転写させる（Ｓ１１６，Ｓ１２０）。【選択図】図６
