Summary:To stabilize combustion with compression ignition in a compression ignition engine.SOLUTION: The compression ignition engine includes a fuel injection part (an injector 6), a state amount adjustment part for adjusting at least fresh air introduction into a combustion chamber, three-way catalysts 511, 513 provided in an exhaust passage, a wall temperature acquisition part (a water temperature sensor SW10) for acquiring parameters relating to the wall temperature of the combustion chamber, and a control part (an ECU 10). In the combustion chamber, a swirl flow is generated circulating along the wall. The control part sets the air-fuel ratio of air-fuel mixture as an approximately theoretical air-fuel ratio to fit in emission control windows of the three-way catalysts when the wall temperature of the combustion chamber is lower than a predetermined wall temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11 【課題】圧縮着火式エンジンにおいて、圧縮着火による燃焼を安定化する。【解決手段】圧縮着火式エンジンは、燃料噴射部(インジェクタ6)と、燃焼室の中への少なくとも新気の導入を調整する状態量調整部と、排気通路に設けられた三元触媒511、513と、燃焼室の壁温に関連するパラメータを取得する壁温取得部(水温センサSW10)と、制御部(ECU10)と、を備える。燃焼室内には、壁に沿って周回するスワール流が発生しており、制御部は、燃焼室の壁温が所定壁温未満のときには、混合気の空燃比を、三元触媒の浄化ウインドウに収まるよう、略理論空燃比にする。【選択図】図11
