Summary:To provide a semiconductor laser diode of which a work voltage is not increased even when changing the width of an electric contact on a ridge.SOLUTION: A semiconductor laser diode 100 includes at least a semiconductor volume layer body 2 including a waveguide structure 9 that includes at least one active layer 3 and a wave. The wave is extended to a back surface from a light output surface in a longitudinal direction, and is defined with a wave side surface 11 in a lateral direction which is vertical to the longitudinal direction. The wave includes: a first region 910; and a second region 920 contacted to the first region in a vertical direction vertical to the longitudinal direction and a lateral direction. The wave includes a first semiconductor material in the first region 910, and includes at least one second semiconductor material different from the first semiconductor material in the second region 920.
