To provide a communication wire whose diameter is reduced while ensuring a characteristic impedance value having a necessary dimension.SOLUTION: A communication wire 1 includes a twisted pair wire 10 in which a pair of insulating wires 11 and 11 are twisted. Each of the insulating wires 11 and 11 is made up of a conductor 12 whose tensile strength is 400 MPa or more, and an insulating coating 13 that coats an outer periphery of the conductor 12. A characteristic impedance is in the range of 100±10 Ω.
