Summary: | To provide a methoxycarbonylation method using formic acid as a CO source.SOLUTION: There is provided a methoxycarbonylation method of olefin having a) a step of adding olefin; b) a step of adding a compound containing Pd, in which Pd can form a complex; c) a step of adding a compound of the formula (I); d) a step of adding MeOH and HCOOH, in which a ratio of MeOH/HCOOH by used volume basis of 1.55:0.45 to 1.1:0.9; and e) a step of heating the reaction mixture and converting the olefin to methylester. In the formula, R, R, Rand Rare each independently H, C1 to 12 alkyl, C1 to 12 alkoxy, C4 to 14 aryl, C4 to 14 aryloxy, cycloalkyl, C1 to 12 heteroalkyl, C1 to 12 heteroaryl or the like, but at least one of R, R, Rand Ris not phenyl.SELECTED DRAWING: None
