Summary:To identify a non-damaged portion easily in a catching body, and to mark a cutting position at the non-damaged portion of the catching body.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method for identifying a non-damaged portion of a catching body that includes pillars and beams, passes water flowing from upstream of a river, and catches earth, rocks and drifting wood. A jig 5, which has, in a closed state, an inner circumferential dimension larger than an outer circumferential dimension of an outer peripheral surface of the non-damaged portion, is attached to the outer peripheral surface of a predetermined portion of the catching body so as to surround the predetermined portion.
