To provide a technology for preventing lowering a life of a liquid absorption sheet by repeated acceleration.SOLUTION: A recording device includes transfer means which performs a transfer operation of transferring an ink image formed on a transfer part onto a recording medium, and liquid absorption means which absorbs a liquid component from an ink image on the transfer part before the transfer operation, where the liquid absorption means includes an endless liquid absorption sheet 50 and displacement means which displaces the liquid absorption sheet 50 between a contact state where the liquid absorption sheet 50 can be brought into contact with the transfer part and a retreat state.
