To provide a graver that is easy to use and has a good use feeling.SOLUTION: In a graver 1 including a handle 2, a blade body 3 and a protection member 4, the protection member 4 has a guard part 6, thereby enabling a protection posture where the guard part 6 is positioned around the blade. Furthermore, in the protection posture, when the longitudinal direction of the handle 2 is in such a condition as tilted against a target surface at a predetermined angle, the blade can contact the target surface, restricting the range of the angle at which the guard part 6 enables the contact.
