Summary:To provide an arc welding method that has excellent feeding properties and high arc stability during arc welding, and a solid wire.SOLUTION: In a gas shield arc welding, Ar-containing gas, and a solid wire 10 having a steel core wire 11 and a copper plating film 12 formed on the surface of the steel core wire 11, with the copper plating film 12 having an average crystal grain size of 600 nm or less, are used to perform welding. Preferably the copper plating film 12 has an average crystal grain size of 50 nm or more and 500 nm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】アーク溶接時において、送給性に優れ、アークの安定度が高いアーク溶接方法及びソリッドワイヤを提供する。【解決手段】ガスシールドアーク溶接において、Arを含むガスと、鋼心線11及び該鋼心線11の表面に形成された銅めっき膜12を備え、銅めっき膜12の平均結晶粒径が600nm以下であるソリッドワイヤ10と、を用いて溶接を行うことを特徴とする。銅めっき膜12の平均結晶粒径が50nm以上500nm以下であることが好ましい。【選択図】図1
