Summary:To provide an optical system small in size, which has a vibration-proof function and high optical performance from an infinite distance to a close range, and an imaging apparatus having the optical system.SOLUTION: The optical system has, successively from an object side to an image side, a first lens group L1 that has a positive refractive power and is immobile upon focusing, a second lens group L2 that moves in an optical axis direction upon focusing, an aperture stop SP, and a lens group that moves in the optical axis direction upon focusing, in which an interval between adjoining lens groups varies upon focusing. The first lens group L1 has a first partial group L11 having a positive refractive power and a second partial group L12 having a positive refractive power.
