Summary:To provide a versatile magnetostrictive member more inexpensive than the conventional single crystal manufacturing method, used for the vibration power generation of power supply in household appliances and having high performance and high reliability.SOLUTION: A magnetostrictive member is obtained by drawing molten Fe-Ga-Cu alloy from the inside of a furnace to the outside thereof at a constant speed to coagulate the alloy in one direction and form a steel ingot B consisting of a plurality of coarse crystal grains, separating the steel ingot B into single crystals D at crystal grain boundaries C, arranging a direction requiring the magnetostriction of the magnetostriction member and the direction of the Fe-Ga-Cu alloy crystal to cut the single crystal D by electrical discharge machining. The Fe-Ga-Cu alloy contains Ga:17.5-23.5 mass%, Cu:0.04-2.4 mass% and the remainder consisting of Fe and inevitable impurities.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】従来の単結晶製造方法よりも安価で、家電等の電源の振動発電に用いられる高性能で高い信頼性を有する汎用性の高い磁歪部材の提供。
