To provide an aqueous cleaning liquid which can prevent reduction in the discharge performance of ink even when resumption of discharge of ink is tried, or the operation temperature of an ink jet recording device changes within the temperature range between 10°C and 40°C.SOLUTION: An aqueous cleaning liquid cleans a surface to which aqueous ink is discharged in an ink jet recording device. Specifically, the aqueous cleaning liquid includes nonionic surfactant, glycols and glycol ether. The nonionic surfactant includes amine type surfactant. The viscosity (25°C) of the aqueous cleaning liquid at drying is equal to or greater than 9 mPa s and equal to or less than 13 mPa s.
