Summary:To provide an electrochemical reaction cell which enables the suppression of the worsening of the performance of an electrochemical reaction single cell by suppressing the increase in IR resistance owing to excessively increase in the thickness of an electrolyte layer and suppressing the occurrence of gas leak owing to the worsening of the denseness of an electrolyte layer in a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC).SOLUTION: An electrochemical reaction single cell comprises: an electrolyte layer 112 including a solid oxide; a porous fuel electrode 116 disposed on one side of the electrolyte layer 112 in a first direction; and a porous air electrode 114 disposed on the other side of the electrolyte layer 112 in the first direction. A particular electrode, which is one of the fuel electrode 116 and the air electrode 114, has a surface opposed to the electrolyte layer 112, and the surface has a surface roughness Rz of 30 μm or less. The opening rate of part of the particular electrode on the side of the electrolyte 112 is 5% or more and less than 35%.
