Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent observation substrate that enables observation of cells at high magnification using an inverted microscope, and to provide an observation container, a manufacturing method therefor, a method of polishing transparent base material, and an observation method.SOLUTION: A transparent observation substrate 10 has a base part 11 comprising a first surface 11a having a predefined observation area 13A and a second surface 11b opposite to the first surface 11a, and is used for observing an observation target placed in the observation area 13A on the first surface 11a from the second surface 11b side. The base part 11 is made of glass material. A nano concavo-convex pattern 12 is formed in the observation area 13A on the first surface 11a side of the base 11 as a structure integrated with the base 11. The base 11 has thickness Tof no greater than 0.5 mm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 【課題】倒立顕微鏡を用いて高倍率で細胞を観察することが可能な観察用透明基板、観察用容器及びその製造方法、透明基材の研磨方法、並びに観察方法を提供する。
