Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which: in an image forming apparatus that causes a current to flow in a circumferential direction of an intermediate transfer belt, when the thickest layer of layers constituting the intermediate transfer belt has ion conductivity, good primary transferability may not be obtained.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises an intermediate transfer belt 10 including, with respect to a thickness direction of the intermediate transfer belt, a base layer 10a that has ion conductivity and is the thickest layer of a plurality of layers constituting the intermediate transfer belt 10, and an internal layer 10b that has electronic conductivity and has a lower electric resistance than that of the base layer 10a.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 【課題】 中間転写ベルトの周方向に電流を流すことで1次転写を行う画像形成装置において、中間転写ベルトを構成する層のうち最も厚い層がイオン導電性を有する場合に、良好な1次転写性が得られないおそれがあった。【解決手段】 中間転写ベルト10は、中間転写ベルトの厚さ方向に関して、イオン導電性を有し中間転写ベルト10を構成する複数の層のうち最も厚い層である基層10aと、電子導電性を有し基層10aよりも電気抵抗が低い内面層10bと、を有することを特徴とする画像形成装置。【選択図】 図3
