PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower a probability that profiles different in valve drive cams are intermingled between cylinders or cylinder groups even if the changeover of the profiles is failed in a part of the cylinders or the cylinder groups when a cam changeover operation for switching the profiles of the valve drive cams of a plurality of the cylinders is performed, related to a control device of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: When profiles of all valve drive cams of a plurality of cylinders do not coincide with one another in a second profile although a cam changeover mechanism has performed a first cam changeover operation for switching the profiles of the respective valve drive cams of the plurality of cylinder to the second profile from a first profile, an ECU makes the cam changeover mechanism perform a second cam changeover operation for switching the profiles of the valve drive cams to the first profile at least with one or plurality of normal cylinders being one or the plurality of cylinders which have succeeded in the changeover of the profiles to the second profile as an object.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7 【課題】この発明は、内燃機関の制御装置に関し、複数の気筒のバルブ駆動カムのプロフィールを切り替えるカム切替動作を行った際に、一部の気筒もしくは気筒群でプロフィールの切り替えに失敗したとしても、気筒間もしくは気筒群間でバルブ駆動カムの異なるプロフィールが混在する確率を下げられるようにする。【解決手段】ＥＣＵは、複数の気筒のそれぞれのバルブ駆動カムのプロフィールを第１プロフィールから第２プロフィールに切り替えるための第１カム切替動作をカム切替機構に実行させたにもかかわらず複数の気筒のすべてのバルブ駆動カムのプロフィールが第２プロフィールで揃わない場合に、第２プロフィールへのプロフィールの切り替えが成功した１または複数の気筒である１または複数の正常気筒を少なくとも対象として、バルブ駆動カムのプロフィールを第１プロフィールに切り替えるための第２カム切替動作をカム切替機構に実行させる。【選択図】図７
