Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evenly distribute gas to each of cylinders while compactly laying out an intake passage in an intake device for a multiple cylinder engine.SOLUTION: An intake passage 30 includes: a plurality of independent passages 39 connected with each of intake ports 17, 18; a surge tank 38 to which an upstream side end of the independent passage 39 is connected; first and second branch passages 44R, 44L having lower ends each connected with the surge tank 38; and a straight pipe 43 which extends in a direction from one side to the other side of a cylinder row direction and is formed so that the first and the second branch passages 44R, 44L are branched from a downstream side end thereof. The first and the second branch passages 44R, 44L are formed in such a manner that an upstream side end continued from the downstream side end of the straight pipe 43 extends from one side to the other side of the cylinder row direction, and after that, a portion downstream of the upstream side end is curved toward a direction of the surge tank.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13 【課題】多気筒エンジンの吸気装置において、吸気通路をコンパクトにレイアウトしつつ、各気筒に対してガスを均等に分配する。【解決手段】吸気通路30は、各々吸気ポート17、18の各々に接続された複数の独立通路39と、独立通路39の上流端部が接続されたサージタンク38と、各々下流端部がサージタンク38に接続された第1及び第2分岐通路44R、44Lと、気筒列方向の一側から他側へ向かう方向に延び、且つ下流端部から第1及び第2分岐通路44R、44Lが分岐するように形成された直管部43とを有する。第1及び第2分岐通路44R、44Lは、それぞれ、直管部43の下流端部から連続する上流端部が気筒列方向の一側から他側へ向かう方向に延びた後、該上流端部よりも下流側の部分がサージタンク方向に向かって湾曲するように形成されている。【選択図】図13
