To make a front cover thin in a thickness without impairing the freedom of an arrangement of an auxiliary machine, in the front cover (timing chair cover) attached with an oil filter.SOLUTION: An oil filter attachment seat 3 is formed at a front lower corner part 2a of a front cover 1 while making an axial core of a center cylinder 5 incline to a direction which is the same as one diagonal direction of the front cover 1. A second boss part 17 which is coaxial with the center cylinder 5 and a first boss part 16 which is parallel with the second boss part 17 are formed at the front cover 1, and tunnel parts 14c, 15b are formed at the boss parts 16, 17. Oil which is pressure-sent from an oil pump flows into an oil filter 4 via the first boss part 16, and sent to a main gallery of a cylinder block via the second boss part 17. Since the oil filter 4 is protruded to a substantially-diagonal direction of the front cover 1, the oil filter does not become an obstacle of an arrangement of the other auxiliary machine 11.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 【課題】オイルフィルターが取付けられるフロントカバー（タイミングチェーンカバー）において、補機の配置の自由性を損なうことなく薄型化を図る。【解決手段】フロントカバー１の前部下コーナー部２ａに、中心筒５の軸心をフロントカバー１の１つの対角方向と同じ方向に傾斜させて、オイルフィルター取付け座３が形成されている。フロントカバー１には、中心筒５と同心の第２ボス部１７と、第２ボス部１７と平行な第１ボス部１６とが形成されており、これらボス部１６，１７に、トンネル部１４ｃ，１５ｂが形成されている。オイルポンプから圧送されたオイルは、第１ボス部１６を介してオイルフィルター４に流入し、第２ボス部１７を介してシリンダブロックのメインギャラリーに送られる。オイルフィルター４はフロントカバー１の略対角方向に突出しているため、他の補機１１の配置の障害にはならない。【選択図】図１
